our story
The Shining Light of Ethiopia was born from a deeply personal connection. Mabret Levant, born in Dongoro Morocho, Ethiopia, was adopted in 2008. In the Amharic language, Mabret means “Shining Light” – a name that would become symbolic of our mission to illuminate the path to education for children in his birth village.
Since then, Mabret and his family have maintained strong ties with Dongora Morocho, returning to reconnect with his birth family and understand the community’s needs firsthand.
